CARE kV

CARE kV offers an automated doseoptimized selection of the x-ray tube voltage (kV) depending on the selected type of examination. It is the industry’s first tool that automatically determines the appropriate kV and scan parameter settings to help deliver the right dose for a particular scan and the user defined image quality.

Adaptive Dose Shield

The Adaptive Dose Shield eliminates over-radiation pre- and post-spiral to the patient (marked in red). It is unique to the CT industry and part of the innovative new STRATON X-ray tube design. By dynamically moving shields into place on the X-ray tube it blocks clinical irrelevant dose. The Adaptive Dose Shield dynamically opens at the beginning of a spiral range and then dynamically closes at the end. Now all clinically irrelevant dose is eliminated. Not only for dedicated applications, but for every single spiral acquisition

Stellar detector

The Stellar detector delivers innovations in CT imaging with ultra-thin slices, very high spatial resolution, and previously unseen detail. The first fully-integrated detector with TrueSignal technology, it significantly reduces electronic noise for uncompromised diagnostic outcome at a low dose.

The Stellar detector with Edge technology

Electronic noise and cross-talk are minimized thanks to full electronic integration. Without cross-talk, intrinsic slice blurring between neighboring detector rows can be avoided and individual slice profiles are much more precise. Siemens’ Edge technology creates an almost perfect model of the focal spot and detector, generating a slice thickness of 0.5 mm. Thanks to minimized electronic noise, the 0.5 mm slice has a sufficient signal contribution to be used in clinical routine.

TrueSignal technology

Low signals can result for example from high attenuation in bariatric imaging or when actively reducing dose through the utilization of iterative reconstruction. This chart shows the effect: The Stellar detector in the SOMATOM Definition Edge with its minimized electronic noise, delivers comparable noise levels (y-axis) at significantly lower signals or at significantly reduced dose (x-axis).
